SAVE THE DATE -- This year’s tournament: October 11-13, 2008
TOURNAMENT RULES
U13 & U14 -- Preliminary and QF Games: 60 minutes
Semi-Final and Final Games: 70 minutes
All games will be played with a running clock. The referee may add time for serious injuries or other incidents, including, but not limited to, deliberate time wasting.
A team shall be allowed a ten (10) minute grace period after the scheduled kick-off time before the match is awarded to their opponent. A minimum of seven (7) players constitutes a team and if seven (7) players are present, the game will not be delayed.
The designated home team must provide the game ball provided by the tournament.
For elimination games, if tied at the end of regular time: Two overtime periods, five minutes each, with teams changing ends after the first period. If still tied, FIFA Kicks from the penalty marks will be taken to determine the winner. Only those players on the field at the end of the overtime period may compete. NO GOLDEN GOAL / SUDDEN DEATH.
For all age groups, players and coaches will take one side of the pitch, and supporters will take the other side of the pitch. No one will be allowed behind either end line.
SUBSTITUTIONS may be made, with the referee’s permission:
1. After a goal
2. At the beginning of the second half of play or prior to the beginning of an overtime period
3. At a goal kick by either team
4. At a throw-in by the team in possession (not for both teams as it is in WAGS league play)
5. For an injured player (one-for-one basis for the injured player(s))
These are UNOFFICIAL. Should there be a conflict with the official WAGS rules, the WAGS rules will always take precedence.
The 32nd Annual Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament (aka WAGS Tournament) will be held October 6-8, 2007. We are still in the process of determining our entire referee needs but believe we will be hosting finals on Monday October 8 along with preliminary games on October 6-7. We will host U13s at Hellwig and Howison and U14s at Chinn and Tyrrell.
We will need 500 referee games during this tournament. Your interest in assisting is greatly appreciated.
WAGS will pay WAGS scale for all the games. For the U14s, that is $45/$25, no matter the length of the match. For the U13s it is $40/$25. And should weather force cancellation of matches so that mini-matches are played instead, referees will be compensated for the full WAGS match. In addition, we will have T-shirts and flip coins as referee gifts.
This is a premier, nationally recognized tournament. Even at U13 and U14, teams comes from all over the country to play. This tournament is deserving to have the best referees we can provide.
Referees are required to be in full uniform. Every ref must have the gold jersey and at least one other jersey. In addition, referees must have referee shorts -- not player shorts. A referee for this tournament must present a professional appearance and be prompt -- at least 30 minutes prior to the first assignment.
