RECERT CLASS 8, 9, 12 CLASS N0093-09
The dates are October 22 and 29 at the McCoart Bldg., 1 County Complex Ct., Woodbridge VA 22192. It is located at the entrance to the baseball stadium off the Prince Wm. Pkwy. This class will meet in the Board Chambers. Please note: There is no eating or drinking permitted in the Board Chambers.
This is a two-session class (5 hours) and one must attend both sessions.
Wed Oct 22, 7:00p - 9:30p
Wed Oct 29, 7:00p - 9:30p
Referees eligible to attend this clinic are those who have a 2008, 2007, or 2006 badge. Referees who were last certified in 2005 or 2004 are eligible to take one of the Bridge/Upgrade to 8 courses to become recertified for 2009 rather than take a New-8 course.
First time refs who are recertifying should be aware that recertification is different than certifying. In the certification course we teach the Laws of the Game and then test. In a recert course we provide training for four hours and then test you on the LOTG. But we do not teach the Laws again. Refs are supposed to know those already.
Who should attend? Referees in Grades 8, 9, and 12 who wish to maintain that Grade level for 2009.
Who should not attend? Referees in Grade 8 who wish to upgrade to 7 or Grade 9 and 12 referees wishing to become a Grade 8 referee. These referees should enroll in an appropriate Upgrade clinic.

You should not bring:
A cell phone. Using cell phones and text messaging in class is not permitted. We will have breaks at approximately every 90 minutes where one can leave to check messages. If you cannot go 90 minutes without checking messages you should rethink your desire to become a referee.
RECERT CLASS -- WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT ISN’T
By taking this course you are already a referee. Therefore, unlike an entry level course, recertification clinics do not teach you the LOTG. You are required to know those ahead of time. The course material that will be taught will be new Law changes, the USSF Memo for next year, plus the "points of emphasis" that the State and USSF will apply for next year. At the end of the clinic you will need to pass a 75-question exam which is half the New-8 exam. In the case of Grade 9 refs, you get a 50-question exam -- the same 50-question exam you had last year although updated.
BREAKS
Despite what is normally an overwhelming presence of young people in class, the instructors tend to treat this as adult education. While we generally will have a break halfway through the morning and halfway through the evening sessions, it is expected that one if must leave they will do so quietly. No hall pass is necessary.
DRESS
Dress for this referee clinic is casual.
We will need your cooperation by being on time to class and being quiet during instructional time.
