Nichole Choplin - Young Female Referee of the Year

FRISCO,  TEXAS - The U.S. Youth Soccer Association has announced that Nichole Choplin, has been named 2017 U.S. Youth Soccer Young Female Referee of the Year. This is the third honors award for Nichole, having first been selected as the VYSA Young Female Referee of the Year. That was followed up having won the Region I Young Female Referee of the Year.

Nichole began refereeing at age 12 in Rhode Island. At age 14 she started officiating with PWSRA. She attended the Olympic Development Program's camp in Rhode Island and was invited to three consecutive State Cup Finals.

Nichole was invited to Presidents Cup Finals in Auburndale, Florida. She was part of the Virginia delegation at the Region I tournament in July. After five days of assignments, she was given the whistle for the regional finals of 14U girls. In the fall she officiated the 19U girls semi-finals.

Nichole is one of three referees in the family, along with her father, Gary, and her brother, Logan. She plays volleyball and soccer at Woodbridge Sr. High School and will be playing soccer at Florida Tech.

Nichole will be honored as the Region I and National Ref of the Year at the USYSA Awards Gala in Philadelphia and as the VYSA winner at the VYSA Gala in Woodbridge.
