Stephanie Myrick Selected as 2009 US Youth Soccer National Young Female Referee of the Year

FORT WORTH, TX  (February 26, 2010) -- Stephanie Myrick was selected as the 2009 US Youth Soccer National Young Female Referee of the Year. She was selected from candidates representing the four regions of the country which represents the 55 member state associations (some states have two associations). 

In December, Stephanie was selected as the Region I 2009 Region I Young Female Referee of the Year after being honored in November as the 2009 Virginia Youth Soccer Association’s Young Female Referee of the Year. Stephanie, who is a senior at Woodbridge Senior H.S., was Prince William Soccer Referees Association Youth Ref of the Year for 2008.

Stephanie began refereeing with PWSRA when she was 12 years of age. She twice attended PRIDE Academy and after being named Camper of the Year (2008), she set her goal to become a Grade 7 referee by the time she turned 17 years old. She completed all the requirements becoming Virginia’s youngest Grade 7 referee this past spring.

Stephanie has refereed State Cup finals, ODP Friendlies, and attended the ODP Camp this past summer in Rhode Island. She has been selected to referee the Region I Tournament in West Virginia next year and most recently refereed the U17G State Cup Final in November in Richmond.

Stephanie played for PWSI from age eight through 17, most recently with PWSI Courage ’91 White. She also coached a U12B team for PWSI this fall.
