Assigning FAQs

Q. Do I need to block out Sunday's for Grade 9 AR's ?

A. Absolutely. While we do have travel matches on Sunday that we would not normally use Grades 9 for Sunday is our rain makeup day. If a Saturday match is rained out a referee's assignment will roll over to the rescheduled game unless it is blocked. Of course, the assignor then has to scramble to get games reassigned and needs to know that Sunday blocks are up to date in Arbiter too.

Q. If the game is "attached" do I still need to block the time slot?

A. Depends. If you leave it as it is the assignor will try to work around that one game with either a game before or after. But if a referee does not want to ref before they play it would be best to block up to and through the scheduled game.

Q. What fields do Grade 9 AR's work?

A. A Grade 9 is restricted to recreational games ages U14 and below. Therefore, they could be on any field. A first-season, especially a young first-season referee may only be assigned AR which could be at Tyrrell or Howison since we don't use ARs at Cloverdale or Fred Lynn.
